Space has always been a big challenge at the home. Twenty seven children shared a three bedroom house with one bathroom and toilet. There was no space where the children could sit down to eat or do their homework. It’s was a daily struggle to get everybody ready for school as they had to share one bathroom. In December 2010, the Post Office announced that it would raise R160 000 towards building extra rooms for Zanokhanyo.  The building of four extra rooms, a shower and toilet commenced in April 2011 and the house was complete in October 2011.

On Wednesday, 12 October 2011, Vuyo Mahlati, Chairperson of the South African Post Office, handed over the newly renovated and refurbished building to the Zanokhanyo Children’s Home in Khayelitsha.

Zanokhanyo would like to thank the Post Office and other sponsors for their relentless support, kindness and generosity in improving the living conditions of twenty seven children.
